LA 1 Toll Study
LA 1 Improvements
Lafourche Parish

The Louisiana Transportation Authority (LTA) in conjunction with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is proposing to replace the existing Leeville Bridge over Bayou Lafourche with a fixed high level bridge, in addition to building a new two lane elevated roadway from the LA 1 junction with LA 3090 at the Gulf to Leeville. This is Phase I of a larger project to provide an elevated four lane facility from LA 3090 north to LA 3235 at Golden Meadow. Federal-aid earmarked transportation funds along with proceeds from a TIFIA loan and the sale of state bonds, and supplemented by funds from DOTD are proposed to be used to finance construction of Phase 1. Toll revenues collected from the use of the new facility would be used for repayment of the state bonds and the TIFIA loan. Monies for planning and design of the LA 1 Improvements, including Phase I, have come from various federal, state, and local sources, including federal-aid earmarked transportation funds, state cash, NOAA grants and the Greater Lafourche Port Commission.

Two Public Meetings will be held to present project information, including current project status as well as the results of the toll study—one meeting in Larose at the Larose Civic Center and another meeting in Grand Isle at the Community Center. The overview presented at both meetings will contain the same information. Please attend the scheduled meeting at the time and location that is most convenient.

Following the presentations, representatives of DOTD will be available to receive comments and answer questions related to this project. All interested citizens are invited and encouraged to attend.

If you require special assistance due to a disability in order to participate at this Public Meeting, please contact DOTD by mail at the address below or by telephone at (225) 242-4502 at least five (5) working days prior to the Public Meeting date.
