The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, (DOTD), advises the public that LA 500, Georgetown, Grant Parish, is now OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC.

Statewide 511 Traffic Information

Union Pacific Railroad


The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, (DOTD), advises the public that LA 500, Georgetown, Grant Parish, will be closed at Union Pacific Railroad Tracks. The work will be done at Milepost 12.408 and is on Control Section 128-03. The closure will be on Thursday, April 23, 2020 from 10:00 AM with a reopen at 7:00 PM. The closure is for Union Pacific to replace the track panel and crossing surface thru the crossing.

Permit/Detour section
The roadway will be closed completely to all traffic during this time. The detour will be LA 500 to US 165 to LA 502 EB to LA 500. The detour can accept oversized loads and will be identified with proper markings for the general public. All emergency agencies will be notified of the Road Closure.

Safety Reminder
All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
