Friday, March 06, 2020 at 12:44:53 PM
Construction has begun for State Project H.009956 LA 44: Turn Lanes is in Ascension Parish for a length of 1.235 miles. The type of work is clearing and grubbing, grading, drainage structures, milling asphalt pavement, pavement patching, class II base course, lime treatment, portland cement concrete pavement, asphalt concrete pavement, drilled shaft foundations, traffic signalization, and related work at a cost of $3,501,304.95.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that there will be a single lane closure on LA 44 at the intersection of LA 621 beginning, Monday, March 9, 2020. This closure of the inside lane in both the northbound and southbound directions will be approximately 200 feet north and 500 feet south of intersection LA 44 / LA 62. Upon completion of work on the inside lane the contractor will switch work to the outside lanes in both directions. This single lane closure is expected to last for the remainder of the month in phases from inside lanes to outside lanes, weather permitting. This closure is necessary to allow crews to do concrete patching along LA 44. One lane will be open in each direction at all times.

No permit or oversize loads greater than 12’ feet wide will be able to pass.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
