Update: East 70th Street Widening Project
Monday, February 03, 2014 at 3:47:00 PM

Good afternoon,

This notice is an update regarding the La. 511 widening and resurfacing project in Caddo Parish.  The scope of the improvement project is to widen the eastbound and westbound lanes of La. 511 between Fern Avenue and Creswell Road and construct a center turn lane.  In addition, the project will resurface the existing roadway from Creswell Road to Line Avenue.

The widening portion of the project is nearing completion allowing the focus to shift to the tie-in at the city streets, new traffic lights, sidewalk, and driveways.  In the coming weeks, new traffic signals will be installed and activated and the old ones removed.  During the signal replacement, crews will utilize local law enforcement to direct traffic at the four intersections.  This work will take approximately one day at each intersection to complete.

The eastbound lane of the bridge widening is complete with the exception of hand rails and minor punch list items.  Remaining work for the westbound lane consists of laying the bridge deck and installing the railing.

Keep in mind; work such as the bridge deck, asphalt laying and roadway striping have cold weather restrictions.  Winter weather has resulted in minor adjustments pushing the completion date to May.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
