Construction has begun for State Project H.002370, LA 42 Widening. The project consists of grading, drainage structures, subgrade treatment, drilled shaft foundations, traffic signalization, landscaping, asphalt concrete pavement, portland cement concrete pavement, and related work in Ascension Parish.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that there will be a road closure near the intersection of LA 42 & LA 73 on Sunday, October 13, 2019 between 7:00am to 5:00pm. Work in this area consists of the removal of an existing subsurface drainage crossing under LA 42 with a full depth patch. Closure will be in eastbound and westbound directions along LA 42 between Oak Grove Baptist Church and Prairieville Animal Hospital. A detour will be in place for motorist to access LA 42 going South LA 73 to Charleston Rd to Ronald Rd. back onto LA 42. Work in this area affecting LA 42 is expected to last approximately one day, weather permitting. Local traffic will still be able to access their residences and businesses. No permit or oversize loads along with emergency vehicles will be able to pass.
