PROJECT UPDATE: Traffic shift tonight on the I-210 Bridge - Calcasieu Parish

LAKE CHARLES - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that the current phase of construction on the westbound bridge is nearing completion. Bridge traffic will transition back to one lane in each direction on each bridge tonight, Thursday, September 26.

Roadway and bridge lighting will be installed during the next phase from east of the I-10 junction to just east of the Cove Lane Overpass. A permanent median barrier between the bridge and the Cove Lane Overpass will also be installed. The installation of the new inspection walkway under the main span will continue.

Work began in early January 2019, and both bridge deck’s 930 feet main spans have been replaced. Additionally, all four approaches to the bridge have been rehabilitated. The retrofitting of new guardrails on the westbound bridge is also complete.

The entire project is expected to be complete in January 2020, with progress dependent on weather.

Motorists are encouraged to use 511 and MyDOTD to get the latest on the project, its traffic delays, and the upcoming traffic shift. Visit the project page to view lane closure notices and see photos of construction progress.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
