Emergency Lane Closure, LA 37 Greenwell Springs Road, East Baton Rouge Parish

The failed crossdrain has been replaced and backfilled with stone. Asphalt surfacing will be applied at a later date to allow for any settlement of the stone backfill. DOTD will monitor and maintain the stone surfacing on a daily basis.

Previous Release:
LA 37, Greenwell Springs Road is closed in both directions approximately .5 miles north of LA 408 Hooper Road due to a roadway failure related to high water in the area. Motorists should avoid this area until further notice.

DETOUR: Northbound traffic should detour via LA 408 west to LA 410 north to LA 64 east to LA 409 south to LA 37. Southbound traffic should detour via LA 409 north to LA 64 west to LA 410 south to LA 408 east to LA 37.

LADOTD reminds motorists to drive safely and be on the lookout for work crews and possible high water over the roadways.

During unfavorable weather conditions, motorists should drive using the following safety tips:
• Drive slowly and carefully.
• Avoid driving into standing or running water.
• Avoid driving while distracted.
• Avoid using cruise control when visibility is low or road surfaces are wet.
• Always allow for extra driving time.
• Reduce speeds when visibility is low.
• Make sure there is plenty of room between vehicles.
• Avoid using highway overpasses as tornado shelters.
