UPDATE - REOPENED: LA 149 through Grambling State University, Lincoln Parish


UPDATE: LA 149 has been REOPENED.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that LA 149 (R.W.E. Jones Drive) through the Grambling State University campus in Lincoln Parish is CLOSED due to high water as a result of heavy rainfall.

Please drive with caution through low-lying areas that are prone to flooding, and never attempt to drive through standing water.

During unfavorable weather conditions, motorists should drive using the following safety tips:

• Drive slowly and carefully.
• Avoid driving into standing or running water.
• Avoid driving while distracted.
• Avoid using cruise control when visibility is low or road surfaces are wet.
• Always allow for extra driving time.
• Reduce speeds when visibility is low.
• Make sure there is plenty of room between vehicles.
• Avoid using highway overpasses as tornado shelters.
