Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) reminds the public that the Gillis W. Long Bridge (also known as the Jackson Street Bridge), US 165-B over the Red River, will continue to be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic for approximately 60 more days.

 

The public is advised to use the suggested detours listed below and to avoid the O.K. Allen Bridge, if at all possible, to alleviate congestion on the O.K. Allen Bridge and reduce travel time.

 

Permit/Detour Section

Alexandria Suggested Detour

Northbound:

Jackson Street (LA 1203-A/ US 165) traffic is to detour onto Bolton Avenue (US 165/ LA 1/ LA 28), which then turns into Bringhurst Street, traffic is to exit onto Casson Street (LA 1/ LA 28 - North) then merging onto US 167 Pineville Expressway (Purple Heart Bridge).

Southbound:

Exit US 167 Pineville Expressway (Purple Heart Bridge) onto Winn Street (LA 1/ LA 28 – South) then turn right onto Bringhurst Street (LA 1/ LA 28/ US 165), which then turns into Bolton Avenue, traffic is to then exit onto Jackson Street (LA 1203-A/ US 165).

 

Pineville Suggested Detour

Southbound:

Main Street (US 165) traffic is to detour onto E. Shamrock Avenue (LA 1250) and then merge onto US 167 Pineville Expressway (Purple Heart Bridge).

Northbound:

Exit US 167 Pineville Expressway (Purple Heart Bridge) onto E. Shamrock Avenue (LA 1250) then exit onto Main Street (US 165).

 

No permitted loads will be allowed during the bridge closure.
