Friday, February 15, 2019 at 3:50:07 PM
UPDATE: THIS CLOSURE HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
LA 347 (Grand Point Highway) north and southbound under the I-10 overpass will be closed nightly beginning Monday, February 18 at 8 p.m. until Friday, February 22 at 6 a.m., weather permitting

This closure is necessary to allow crews to place and secure deck formwork on the overpass.

The detour for northbound traffic will be I-10 eastbound to Exit 121 – LA 3177 (Butte La Rose) and then back on I-10 westbound to Exit 115 – LA 347 or continue on I-10 westbound.

The detour for southbound traffic will be I-10 westbound to Exit 109 – LA 328 (Rees Street) in Breaux Bridge and then back on I-10 eastbound to Exit 115 – LA 347 or continue on I-10 eastbound.

The road will be open to regular traffic with an 18-foot lane restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone.

Emergency vehicles will have access to the area.

This work is related to the FASTLANE I-10 widening project (State Project Number H.003014). This $54.7 million project will involve pavement replacement within the existing lanes in each direction for 2.7 miles along I-10 from LA 347 to the base of the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. An additional lane will be added in the westbound direction.

With the help of the FASTLANE grant, this is the second of three projects to reconstruct and widen the I-10 corridor from I-49 to the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge.

The project began in July 2017 and is estimated for completion in 2020.
