UPDATE: I-10 EB at LA 27 (Beglis Pkwy), LA 27 overpass closures - Calcasieu Parish

The previously announced full closures for LA 27 southbound scheduled for tonight through 5 a.m. Friday, December 7 has been cancelled. The full closure of LA 27 southbound is now scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

LA 27 southbound traffic will be diverted to I-10 westbound to LA 1256 (Ruth Street) then back to LA 27 during the closure.

CANCELLED:The inside lane of LA 27 southbound at I-10 will also be closed from 8 p.m. tonight Thursday, December 6 to 5 a.m. Friday, December 7. This additional closure means LA 27 southbound will have a full closure tonight and Friday night.

LA 27 southbound traffic will be diverted to I-10 WB during the closure.

The closure is necessary for contractor crews to replace the bridge deck of the LA 27 overpass that was damaged in February.

I-10 eastbound from LA 1256 Ruth Street (Exit 20) to LA 27 Beglis Parkway (Exit 21) will have alternating lane closures beginning today, Tuesday, December 4 at 8 p.m.

The lane closures are necessary to restripe the roadway to restrict interstate traffic to two lanes. Following the restriping, traffic will remain in the two lane configuration through 5 p.m on Saturday, December 8 as previously announced.

Phase 1 closures will be extended through tonight, Monday, December 3. The extension includes full closures of I-10 eastbound at exit 21 (LA 27 Beglis Pkwy), and LA 27 northbound and southbound beginning at 9 p.m. and continuing until 4 a.m.

I-10 eastbound traffic will be diverted to the ramps at LA 27 Beglis Pkwy (exit 21) to exit and re-enter the interstate. Motorist traveling northbound on LA 27 will be detoured via LA 108 (Cities Service Hwy) and US 90 back to LA 27, and southbound traffic will be detoured via I-10 westbound and I-10 eastbound back to LA 27.

I-10 EB at LA 27 (Beglis Pkwy), LA 27 overpass closures - Calcasieu Parish


LAKE CHARLES - Repair work on the LA 27 (Beglis Pkwy) overpasses over I-10 in Sulphur begins this week. Work will include lane closures on I-10 eastbound and the LA 27 overpasses northbound and southbound. I-10 westbound is not affected by the work. The lane closures and detour routes are the following:

Phase 1 - Nighttime Closures: Saturday, December 1 (10:00pm - 09:00am) and Sunday, December 2 (8:00pm - 05:00am)
  • Full closure of I-10 eastbound at exit 21 (LA 27 Beglis Pkwy)
  • Full closure of LA 27 northbound
  • Full closure of LA 27 southbound
I-10 eastbound traffic will be diverted to the ramps at LA 27 Beglis Pkwy (exit 21) to exit and re-enter the interstate. Motorist traveling northbound on LA 27 will be detoured via LA 108 (Cities Service Hwy) and US 90 back to LA 27, and southbound traffic will be detoured via I-10 westbound and I-10 eastbound back to LA 27.

Phase 2 - Daytime & Nighttime Closures: Wednesday, December 5, 6:00am through Saturday, December 8, 5:00pm
  • I-10 eastbound will be reduced to two lanes of traffic
  • LA 27 southbound outside lane closed

In February 2018, an oversized load traveling on I-10 eastbound impacted the southbound and northbound bridges at the LA 27 overpass causing damage. The closures are necessary to make repairs to the damaged bridges.
