The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that the flashing beacons at the intersection of Doyle Melancon Road and LA 347 (Grand Point Highway) in St. Martin Parish will be removed on Wednesday, October 24, weather permitting.

This work is necessary in order to facilitate construction of the new roundabout intersection.

The $2.5 million project involves the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of LA 347 and Doyle Melancon Road in St. Martin Parish. Roundabouts are one-way, circular intersections designed to improve safety and efficiency for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians. Roundabouts reduce crashes by decreasing stop-and-go traffic.

The project began in August 2018 and is estimated for completion in June 2019.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
