Construction has begun for State Project H.009956 LA 44: Turn Lanes is in Ascension Parish for a length of 1.235 miles. The type of work is clearing and grubbing, grading, drainage structures, milling asphalt pavement, pavement patching, class II base course, lime treatment, portland cement concrete pavement, asphalt concrete pavement, drilled shaft foundations, traffic signalization, and related work at a cost of $3,501,304.95.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that there will be intermittent lane closures beginning Wednesday (September 12th) thru Friday (September 14th) and Monday (September 17th) thru Thursday (September 21st) for the following lanes:

  • Causey Road, Westbound, leaving LA 44
  • Merritt Evans Road, Eastbound, leaving LA 44
  • LA 933 Eastbound, Leaving LA 44
  • LA 933 Westbound, Leaving LA 44

These closures are necessary in order for the contractor to install new signal mast arms at the two intersections with LA 44. The closures will take place individually between 9 am and 2 pm. Thru traffic will be allowed both approaching LA 44 and on LA 44 with the exception of stopping traffic temporarily while the signal mast arms are put in place, estimating to take approximately 2-5 minutes.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
