The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises the public that US 71/165 at LA 496, Bayou Rapides Road, Rapides Parish, is NOW OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises the public of an emergency road closure at the intersection of US 71 (MacArthur Drive) on the east leg of Bayou Rapides Road. There is a roadway failure that has developed within the intersection of Bayou Rapides and the MacArthur Drive East Service road. This closure is not on US 71 (MacArthur Drive) and should not directly affect the mainline. The US 71 southbound left turns will be restricted due to the closure and there will be no thru movements allowed from LA 496.
The situation is being assessed by LA DOTD and the City of Alexandria; updates will be released as this situation develops.
Permit/Detour section
There is no detour at this time and this closure will not affect permitted loads.
