The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that on Friday, September 29, I-10 (LA 328 to I-49) in Lafayette and St. Martin Parishes will have alternating lane closures in the east and westbound directions for a sweeping operation.

This work is estimated to take place from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, weather permitting.

All permit and oversize loads along with emergency vehicles will be allowed to pass. There are no detours.

DOTD apologizes for any inconvenience to the traveling public and encourages motorists to lookout for crews and their equipment.

The $124.7 million I-10 widening project will involve widening a 7.11-mile section from I-49 to Breaux Bridge. The project will include pavement replacement within the existing lanes and the construction of one additional lane in each direction along I-10 from I-49 to La 328 (Breaux Bridge).

The project began in May 2017 and is estimated for completion in fall 2019.
