The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) has prepared, and the Federal Highway Administration has approved for public distribution, a Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA) for improvements to US 51 Business. The LADOTD is inviting interested citizens to attend a Public Hearing in open house format for the Supplemental Environmental Assessment. The Hearing location and date are as follows:

Project Location and Scope: The project includes widening and intersection improvements to U.S. 51 Business (Veterans Avenue) from just north of the LA Hwy 22 intersection on the south to the new Club Deluxe Road roundabout intersection on the north (improvements to the LA 22/ US 51 intersection are being studied under a separate LADOTD project). The total length of the project is approximately 2.5 miles.
Detailed information relative to the project is available to those interested through copies of the Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA). This information is available for review and/or purchase at the LADOTD Environmental Section Office, 1201 Capitol Access Road, Room 504D, Baton Rouge, LA, as well as the LADOTD District 62 Office at 685 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, LA 70401. Copies of this document will be made available upon request at the expense of the person requesting this information at a cost equal to the Department’s cost of reproduction. The supplemental EA is available for review at the following local libraries: the Tangipahoa Parish Library in Hammond, 314 E Thomas St, Hammond, LA 70401 and the Tangipahoa Parish Library in Ponchatoula, 380 N. 5th St, Ponchatoula, LA 70454.

Public Hearing Details: The Hearing will be held in an "open house" format, with the public free to show up any time during the scheduled time period. Detailed information of the Supplemental EA will be presented at the Public Hearing, and right-of-way and relocation information will also be available at the Hearing. The purpose of the Public Hearing is to receive comment and input on the Supplemental EA. All interested persons or their representatives are invited to be present at the above time and place for the purpose of becoming acquainted with the highway improvements being considered. Attendees will be afforded an opportunity to express their views concerning the proposed project’s specific location, major design features, and the probable social, economic, and environmental effects involved as described in the Supplemental EA document. Oral and written comments will be received at the Hearing. A court reporter will be present to record and transcribe oral statements for the hearing record and representatives of the DOTD and the consultant team will be present to answer any questions relative to the project. All written comments may be submitted at the Hearing, or may be mailed to the following address, postmarked within ten days following the Hearing date (by October 6, 2017):
