THE FOLLOWING WORK HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH MONDAY, AUGUST 14, DUE TO WEATHER.
BROUSSARD, La. -- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that it will begin the process to shift traffic for motorists traveling on U.S. 90 to the new U.S. 90 eastbound bridge over the BNSF railroad beginning Wednesday, August 2, through Wednesday, August 9.
This work is scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The following traffic movements and closures will accompany the US 90 mainline detour.
• LA 182 Eastbound and Westbound - Motorists will be shifted onto the eastbound shoulder and eastbound travel lane to facilitate construction of the westbound travel lane. This shift will begin approximately 600 feet east of the LA 96 intersection and end approximately 500 feet west of the LA 96 intersection.
• LA 182 westbound - Traffic will be restricted from traveling under the US 90 overpass. Motorists will be required to make a right turn movement onto the westbound frontage road which will provide access to US 90.
• LA 182 eastbound from Albertson’s Parkway to St. Etienne Road will be closed to all traffic to facilitate construction of the eastbound lane. Traffic will be detoured to the eastbound frontage road and LA 182 westbound. Access to businesses will be maintained.
• The left turn movement from St. Etienne Road to LA 182 westbound will be restricted. Traffic on St. Etienne Road will be allowed to turn right onto LA 182 eastbound and proceed under the US 90 overpass.
All construction activities are weather dependent, and may be re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather.
DOTD apologizes for any inconvenience to the traveling public and encourages motorists to lookout for crews and their equipment.
As part of the Geaux South program, current work underway is related to the $57.1 million design-build project that involves widening U.S 90 to six-lanes from Albertson Parkway to north of the Ambassador Caffery intersection. The project will also construct an overpass along U.S. 90 above Albertson Parkway, a new railroad overpass and modify the adjacent frontage roads. Work on the project is slated for completion in mid-2017.
