UPDATE: The temporary bridge in use during the construction of the new Old Channel Bridge over Red Chute Bayou on LA 612 (Sligo Road) in south Bossier Parish has been REOPENED.

Original Notification:

EMERGENCY CLOSURE: Temporary bridge at LA 612 (Sligo Road) in Bossier Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development (DOTD) advises motorists that the temporary bridge in place for the construction of the new Old Channel Bridge over Red Chute Bayou on LA 612 (Sligo Road) in south Bossier Parish has been shut down.

During construction, concrete pilings that were being placed in preparation of pile driving fell following a strong gust of wind. This resulted in damage to a portion of the adjacent temporary bridge, which is now completely closed to traffic.

Crews are on site gathering further information about the incident and assessing damage to the temporary bridge.

Alternate Route: Traffic is being re-routed onto Caplis-Sligo Road.

Safety Reminder:

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
