The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that beginning on Monday September 26, at 8:00 AM, construction work will begin on a section of I-49 in Natchitoches Parish. This work will be between Exit 142 (Posey Rd.) and Exit 148 (LA 485).

The intent of this project is to repair 6 slide sites between Exits 142 and 148 where the foreslopes are failing and sliding away from the roadway. Associated work includes excavating the failed material and replacing said material with new embankment with geotextile fabric between lifts.

The contractor will be required to maintain thru traffic at all times, but periodic lane closures and delays can be expected. The public is advised to remain alert to construction signs and changing roadway conditions.

The project was awarded to the low bidder, Specialty Trackhoe & Dozer Serv. INC., in the amount of $1,246,972.70. The work associated with this project should take approximately 130 working days to complete.

Permit/Detour section
Thru traffic will be maintained and there will be no detour routes for this project. Permitted loads will not be affected.
