The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on Wednesday, September 7th, 2016, construction will begin on US 84 in Winn Parish. This work will begin approximately 600 feet west of the Couley Creek Bridge and proceed west bound for 6.2 miles to approximately 2000 feet east of the Wolf Creek Bridge.
The intent of this project is to patch existing failures, cold plane 2” of the existing pavement surface, and overlay it with 2” of new Superpave Asphaltic Concrete. Associated work includes replacing guardrail, sawing and sealing longitudinal and transverse joints, ground-in rumble strips on the centerline and shoulders, mailboxes, and permanent thermoplastic striping.
The contractor will be required to maintain thru traffic at all times, but periodic lane closures and delays can be expected. The public is advised to remain alert to construction signs and changing roadway conditions.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Diamond B Construction Co. LLC, in the amount of $1,465,157.38. The work associated with this project should take approximately 100 working days to complete.
Permit/Detour Section
Thru traffic will be maintained and there will be no detour routes for this project. Permitted loads should be restricted to 16’ widths.
