LA 1: RAPIDES STATION - I-49 BRIDGE
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, (DOTD), advises the public that beginning immediately, the southbound I-49 on-ramp at Rapides Station (Exit 94) will be open to traffic. Alternating Lane closures will continue on LA 1 until the end of August. The lane closures are required to complete the final course of asphalt pavement on the project.

La 1: Rapides Station - I-49 Bridge

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, (DOTD), advises the public that beginning Monday, June 3rd, 2024 at 7:00 am, weather permitting, construction will resume on Rapides Station Rd. near the intersection with LA 1. Two-way traffic will be permitted on the northern most two lanes of Rapides Station Road. The southbound I-49 on ramp at Rapides Station (Exit 94) will be closed to facilitate reconstruction of the roadway and base. This phase of construction is anticipated to last until the end of June.
Permit/Detour Section
I-49 Southbound on-ramp – Traffic intending to enter onto I-49 southbound will continue to LA 1 southbound. Traffic will continue south on LA 1 then turn left onto LA 498. Traffic will then continue on La 498 to the I-49 interchange, turning right onto the I-49 Southbound onramp.
There will be a lane width restriction of 12 feet for traffic on Rapides Station Road.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, (DOTD), advises the public that beginning Thursday, April 25th, 2024 at 7:00 am, weather permitting, construction will begin at the intersection of Rapides Station Rd. and LA 1. LA 1 will be restricted to northbound traffic only, north of the intersection of LA1 and Rapides Station Road. This phase of construction is anticipated to last until the end of May.
This construction project consists of re-stabilization of the roadway base, asphaltic concrete pavement, and related work.
The contract was awarded to Gilchrist Construction Company, LLC in the amount of $3,439,930.73.
Permit/Detour section
Traffic traveling south on LA 1 will detour to the I-49 Boyce interchange(Exit 98) and continue south on I-49.
Traffic will travel south on I-49 to Exit 94 then proceed to LA 1 south.
There will be a Lane Width restriction of 12 feet for traffic on LA 1 from I-49 entrance ramp near Boyce LA to the intersection with Rapides Station Road.
