UPDATE - REOPENED: I-49 southbound at Exit 53, Avoyelles Parish
(UPDATE): DOTD advises motorists that this crash has been cleared and I-49 southbound has been REOPENED.

Original notification:
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that due to a crash involving an 18-wheeler, both lanes of I-49 southbound near Exit 53 in Avoyelles Parish are currently closed.
Traffic is being diverted off I-49 southbound at Exit 53 (LA 115 – Bunkie). Motorists are being detoured from LA 115 to LA 1176 to LA 29 to LA 106 and back to I-49 at Exit 46.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the area. DOTD will issue further notifications when the crash has been cleared and the roadway has been reopened.
Restrictions/Permits: Total road closure at the specified location. ALL vehicles will need to detour.
Alternate Route: Detour signage will be in place. LA 115 to LA 1176 to LA 29 to LA 106 to I-49.
