Senator Ted Hickey (Seabrook) Bridge/LA 1264 Update: Repair project bids on May 5, 2024

New Orleans –
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that a project to fully repair structural steel columns of the Ted Hickey (Seabrook) Bridge will go out to bid on May 5, 2024.

The bridge has been closed to motorists since March due to damage/wear from bridge support. The structural columns have been an issue with the bridge in the past two years, limiting traffic due to weight restrictions.

The upcoming repairs, estimated to be completed by late Summer, will allow full travel without restrictions. The estimated cost of the repairs is between $250,000 and $500,000.

All May 5 lettings can be found at this link: https://wwwapps.dotd.la.gov/engineering/lettings/bidsadvn/anhq20240508.aspx

DOTD plans for a full renovation project of the bridge in 2029.

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
