Evangeline Parish, La. — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Wednesday, September 14, 2022, construction will begin on a $4.4 million project that will include a 3.8-mile section of LA 1165 from LA 29 to LA 104.

The project will include milling asphalt concrete, subgrade and base reconstruction, patching, asphalt surface treatment, new asphalt pavement, repairing drainage structures, rumble strips, striping, and related work.

The work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

There will be intermittent lane closures throughout the project, therefore drivers should expect delays. The road will be open to regular traffic with a 12-foot maximum lane restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone. There will also be a road closure event during the project, to install drainage structures crossing the roadway. The Department will publish a press release for the road closure event and a detour route will be posted.

Emergency vehicles will have access to this area, except during the planned road closure event which will be announced.

The project is estimated for completion in Spring 2023.
