BATON ROUGE — Today, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Shawn Wilson, Ph.D. announced the addition of W. Beau Black to the legislative and local government team for the department.

As legislative liaison, Black will engage with DOTD’s state and local government partners to advance the mission of DOTD and pursue legislation and work that moves the department and its stakeholders forward.

Recently, Black served on the Plaquemines Parish Council as the District 2 representative and as a commissioner for the Plaquemines Port Harbor and Terminal District. Black also served the United States Foreign Service Department of State as a diplomatic security service special agent in cities across the United States and multiple countries across the world. During his tenure with the U.S. Foreign Service Department of State, he was named interim deputy chief of mission.

Black earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Loyola University New Orleans and a master’s degree in military operational art and science from the Air Force Air Command and Staff College.

“Beau has had a storied career and is committed to public service,” said Sec. Wilson. “His ability to work with the public and our elected leaders will be a valuable asset to our outstanding team as we address our state's transportation needs.”
