The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the final pass for debris removal in Southeast Louisiana (Orleans, Jefferson, St. Charles, St. Bernard, Lafourche, Terrebonne and Plaquemines parishes) is expected to be complete on December 14, 2020.

DOTD contractor crews have removed more than 85,000 cubic yards of debris from state maintained routes in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Charles, St. Bernard, Lafourche, Terrebonne and Plaquemines parishes. Statewide, crews have removed more than 2.4 million cubic yards of debris from state right-of-way.

Debris placed on state roadways after December 14 will have to be removed through normal means and will not be removed by state contractors.

DOTD would like to remind citizens of the following important tips for assisting the debris removal process:

• State contractors are only able to remove debris from state right-of-way.
• Dark colored bagged debris will not be removed.
• Debris from commercial and undeveloped properties will not be removed by state contractors.
• Please don’t put debris on power lines, fire hydrants, utility stub outs or anything that would hinder the claw that grabs the debris.
