DOTD continues work to improve Loyola Drive interchange in Jefferson Parish

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces work to improve the Loyola Drive at Interstate 10 interchange is continuing.
Recently, piles supporting two flyover ramps were driven. Demolition of the Red Roof Inn hotel is also expected to begin this week.
“As work on this much-needed project progresses, drivers should be aware of any changes in the work zone,” said DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson, Ph.D. “I’m proud of how quickly this administration was able to move this project forward using innovative funding techniques. I also appreciate the public’s patience as we improve the infrastructure in this area.”
The $125.6 million dollar project consists of building two additional elevated fly over ramps connecting the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International airport to I-10 and New Orleans. In addition, improvements to the existing interchange at Loyola and I-10 which will include a Diverging Diamond Interchange.
The design-build project is expected to be completed by late 2022.
