ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces a complete closure of Oak Harbor Boulevard in Slidell at U.S. 11 beginning Friday, March 2 through Thursday, March 8, 2018, as part of an ongoing $4.9 million project to improve the levees and widen the roadway near the Schneider Canal.

On Thursday, March 8, traffic will be switched over to the newly designed configuration, which will include traffic signals at Spartan Drive. Work on the project began in March 2017 and is estimated for completion by April 2018. The contractor is Hard Rock Construction, LLC.

Motorists are advised to detour and to take alternate routes during this closure. Emergency vehicles will not have access to Oak Harbor Blvd., as the entire roadway will be closed. Highway 11 will remain open.

All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking or biking near the active work zone.
