POSTPONED: DOTD to begin traffic shift on I-49 South project in Jeanerette over weekend

THE FOLLOWING WORK HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
JEANERETTE, La. -- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced today that beginning Saturday, February 4, crews will begin the process to shift traffic on its I-49 South project in Jeanerette.
On Saturday, February 4, the left lane of U.S. 90 near its intersection with La. 318 will be reduced to one lane, in the eastbound direction, to allow crews to restripe lanes in order to shift traffic. Once striping is complete, traffic will be shifted to the new eastbound ramp. The lane closure is estimated to take place from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.
On Sunday, February 5, the left lane of U.S. 90 near its intersection with La. 318 will be reduced to one lane, in the westbound direction, to allow crews to restripe lanes in order to shift traffic. Once striping is complete, traffic will be shifted to the new westbound ramp. The lane closure is estimated to take place from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.
All construction activities are weather dependent, and may be re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather.
DOTD apologizes for any inconvenience to the traveling public and encourages motorists to lookout for crews and their equipment.
As part of the Geaux South program, current work underway is related to the $56 million design-build project that involves upgrading the existing U.S. 90 and La. 318 signalized intersection to a full control of access, grade-separated interchange including the reconstruction of the U.S. 90 frontage roads to provide local access to La. 318. Construction began in March 2016, and is estimated for completion in fall 2018.
