DOTD announces plan to begin debris removal service in Acadiana

BATON ROUGE, La. – Today, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced plans to begin curb-side debris removal service in the Acadiana region.
Beginning Monday, August 29, crews will begin curb-side debris removal from state right of way in Iberia and St. Martin parishes.
“DOTD is working diligently to remove debris created by recent flood events throughout affected areas,” Secretary Shawn D. Wilson said. “Debris removal re-establishes lost connectivity throughout the state’s transportation system, allowing safe and efficient travel for the people and goods that drive our recovery.”
Damage assessment teams will continue to monitor other impacted parishes in the Acadiana region over the weekend and will schedule debris removal service for the remaining parishes accordingly.
Debris removal will occur in the federally declared parishes. A federal declaration has been received for the parishes of Acadia, Ascension, Avoyelles, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Vermilion, Washington, and West Feliciana.
