Scope of work: Structural, mechanical, and electrical work to include milling of existing asphalt concrete pavement, installing asphalt pavement, installing Portland cement concrete pavement (replacing some concrete panels on initial approaches in both directions), tile removal and replacement, crack sealing, pump and HVAC rehabilitation.
Latest Update (July 2025): The opening date for the westbound tunnel has been moved up to Friday, August 15, 2025. The eastbound Harvey Tunnel will remain closed through January 2025.
Update (June/July 2025): The westbound harvey tunnel is expected to be completed and open this October. The eastbound tunnel is expected to open Q1 of 2026.
Latest Update (April 2025):
The Harvey Tunnel Eastbound will be closed all day on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Additionally, the Harvey Tunnel Eastbound will be closed overnights from 7pm-6am, Monday-Thursday evenings, from Apirl 14-May 2, 2025.
February 2025:
Jefferson Parish, La. - The Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces a full overnight closure of the US 90 BUS Harvey Tunnel for utility work next Monday evening, beginning at 7 p.m. Eastbound traffic on the Harvey Tunnel will reopen at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
