LA 30 (Nicholson Drive) in East Baton Rouge from South Boulevard to W. Chimes Street involves subsurface drainage, roadway resurfacing and pavement rehabilitation, and sidewalks along the corridor. The I-10 Highland/Nicholson exit ramp terminal will be relocated from its current location at Terrace Street to a new point tying into Oklahoma Street with turn lane additions on Oklahoma Street and a new signalized intersection at Oklahoma/Nicholson.

Some additional changes along the corridor will include the closing of some existing median openings, the addition of new turn lanes and directional median openings, the relocation of specific signals, and right in/ right out turnouts for many of the access points along the corridor. That said the corridor will remain a 4 lane road with a divided median.  Additional right-of-way (ROW) is required for the ramp location only. The project is approximately 1.5 miles in length.

There is extensive drainage work that goes along with the new Oklahoma Street exit, as well as milling, overlay and sidewalks.  The road was so old after the mill work it was discovered that additional planning and design was needed for the drainage and the overlay with additional drainage work is being added to the project.

The patching work has started on Nicholson is ongoing.
