PROJECT OVERVIEW: The $125.6 million project will modify existing Loyola ramps and will add two elevated flyover ramps for access to and from New Orleans. The project also adds auxillary lanes along I-10 between Loyola Drive and Williams Boulevard. On the ground level, Loyola Drive adjacent to I-10 will be modified to become the state's first Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) to be opened to traffic. The DDI is anticipated to be open to traffic summer 2023. The overall project will be completed late 2023

STATUS: I-10 pile foundations and piers for both ramp flyovers are almost complete, and have erected steel tub girders over I-10. The placement of concrete decks has began for the flyover ramps over I-10. Foundation work along the Loyola Drive median is reaching completion as preparations are being made to erect the remaining steel tub girders over Loyola Drive and Veterans Boulevard into the New Orleans International Airport. Meanwhile, roadway construction continues along Loyola Drive for the new Diverging Diamond Interchange configuration. Precast panels for the noise walls will begin fabrication soon. Project Environmental documents can be found here.
Roadway widening along I-10 is underway, as well as widening of the Duncan Canal Bridge. Asphalt placement along the median widening portions of I-10 between Loyola nad Williams will soon begin. Drainage and roadway work continues along Loyola/ Airport Access Road. A temporary I-10 eastbound on ramp has also been opened to accomodate traffic from the airport until the ramps are complete.
