The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) is proposing an access management project along US 167 (Johnston Street) in Lafayette and Vermilion Parishes. The project will include the construction of ten (10) U-Turns, twenty-two (22) U and Left Turns, left (3) Left Turns, and four (4) Right Turns along US 167 beginning approximately 250 feet north of the US 167 and W Vincent Street intersection in Vermilion Parish and extending north to the US 167 and LA 3073 (Ambassador Caffery Parkway) intersection in Lafayette Parish. US 167 is also proposed to be overlain as part of the project.
The project will consist of removal of the existing surface and stabilized base, cold planing, patching, application of a class II base course, and superpave asphaltic concrete. Associated work will include related drainage work, erosion control, connection of concrete drives and turnouts, pavement striping, and installation of traffic signage.
Three existing signalized intersections are included in the proposed project. These are the E Broussard Road/W Broussard Road and Johnston Street intersection, Duhon Road (LA 724)/South City Parkway and Johnston Street intersection, and Sears Drive and Johnston Street intersection. Signalized U-Turns will be located before and after the E Broussard Road/W Broussard Road and Johnston Street intersection.
