DOTD Announces Alternating Lane Closure Schedule for $43 Million Resurfacing Project on I-49

LAFAYETTE/ST. LANDRY PARISH, LA - Motorists are advised of upcoming alternating lane closures on Interstate 49 as part of a $43 million resurfacing project. These closures are necessary to complete patching and saw cutting operations and will take place during overnight and weekend hours to minimize traffic disruptions. Below is the schedule for the next two weeks.

Southbound I-49 – Patching Operations
Alternating lane closures will occur on the I-49 southbound mainline starting at the Lafayette/St. Landry Parish line during the following dates and times:
  • Monday, April 6: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, April 7: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, April 8: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, April 9: 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, April 11: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Sunday, April 12: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Monday, April 13: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, April 14: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, April 15: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.

Northbound I-49 – Patching Operations
Alternating lane closures will occur on the I-49 northbound mainline starting at the I-10/I-49 interchange during the following dates and times:

  • Thursday, April 16: 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
  • Friday, April 17: 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, April 18: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Northbound I-49 – Saw Cutting Operations
Alternating lane closures will also be in place for saw cutting operations on the I-49 northbound mainline starting at the I-49/I-10 interchange during the following dates and times:

  • Monday, April 6: 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, April 7: 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, April 8: 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, April 9: 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Friday, April 10 – Monday, April 13: 8:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, April 11: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Sunday, April 12: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Monday, April 13: 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, April 14: 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, April 15: 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, April 16: 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Friday, April 17 – Monday, April 20: 8:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.

All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

Motorists should expect delays, exercise caution in work zones, and consider alternate routes when possible. Crews will work to complete operations as efficiently and safely as possible.
