REMINDER - DOTD to host public meeting to discuss LA 495 road closure in Natchitoches Parish

CLOUTIERVILLE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development reminds the public that the Dept. is hosting a meeting to provide information and answer questions regarding the ongoing closure of LA 495 in the Cloutierville community of Natchitoches Parish.

Meeting details are as follows (revised address):

Tuesday, January 20, 2026

5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church

Meeting Hall

161 Hwy 491

Cloutierville, LA 71416

The closure on LA 495 was prompted by an embankment slide in 2019 originating from the Cane River that continues to impact the integrity of the highway. This slide’s encroachment into the DOTD right-of-way has created conditions unsafe for travel, making a road closure necessary to safeguard motorists.

A project to realign the roadway away from the Cane River is currently in development, and the purpose of the meeting is to provide information related to that future project, and allow the community to ask questions and share their concerns.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting as DOTD continues to move forward with developing the LA 495 realignment project.
