DOTD proposes to construct two single lane roundabouts to improve safety and traffic flow at the interchange of US 90 with LA 88 in Iberia Parish, Louisiana.  The project starts just west of Melancon Road on LA 88 (Coteau Road) which consists of single lanes in each direction. As the project moves westward along LA 88 approaching US 90 (near Freetown Road), the roadway in each direction widens to two 12-foot wide travel lanes with a median divide and 11-foot wide paved shoulders. The project continues westward along LA 88, remaining a four-lane divided highway, then transitions back to single lanes near the end of the project just west of Labit Road.

The two proposed roundabouts will tie into LA 88 at the US 90 exit ramps within the existing ROW and each roundabout will have one 18-foot wide continuous travel lane. The proposed project also consists of modifying the service road intersections on LA 88 with J-turns and U-turn locations. Additional construction activities include embankment work, general excavation, and the replacement of existing and new drainage structures. Approximately 0.217 acre of additional right-of-way is required. Relocations are not anticipated. The project is approximately one mile in length.
