REMINDER: I-210 construction work to start Monday – Calcasieu Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that construction work and lane closures on the I-210 Prien Lake Bridge will begin Monday, January 7.

I-210 Prien Lake eastbound and westbound bridges (MP 1-3) will be reduced to one lane in each direction 24/7. In addition, westbound will have a full closure Monday through Thursday nights from 9 p.m. – 4 a.m with the only exception of this Monday, January 7. Lane closures will be necessary to allow space for the contractor to work. All work is weather permitting.

Due to the unforeseen I-10 repair work, DOTD is coordinating with both contractors to minimize the impact for motorist traveling eastbound. I-210 eastbound closures will be limited until the I-10 repair work is complete. Following the completion of the I-10 work, I-210 eastbound will be reduced to one lane 24/7.

Significant delays are to be expected for the duration of the project, with special consideration being given to the first week to 10 days of the new pattern. This is expected as drivers typically find a route that is more acceptable to their needs. Motorist should anticipate greater traffic impacts the first few days of the project as travelers adjust to the reduced lanes.

A traffic advisory system on I-10 and I-210 will be in place and provide real-time traffic information to drivers via message boards and flashing signs. Motorist Assistance Patrol (MAP) coverage will be increased to three day units and two night units for those motorist who become stranded and are in need of assistance in the work zone.

Motorist may use LA 109, LA 27, US 171 or US 165 to access LA 12 and US 190 as alternative routes.
