ST. CHARLES PARISH – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will rehabilitate westbound LA 3127 to restore the roadway, provide motorists with a new driving surface and extend its service life. The work will also improve drainage and replace guardrails along the corridor.
The $7.5 million project covers approximately 10 miles of LA 3127, from the St. John the Baptist Parish line to I-310. Work includes pavement patching, resurfacing, new pavement markings, crossdrain replacements and guardrail replacement.
Construction is scheduled to begin Thursday, Nov. 5, weather permitting. Initial asphalt patching operations will require recurring single-lane closures on eastbound and westbound LA 3127 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 6.
The same recurring single-lane closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, through Friday, Nov. 13.
This project is part of the Louisiana Transportation Infrastructure Fund 2.0, a state-funded program that directs $249 million toward highway preservation projects during the 2025–2026 period.
As construction progresses, most daytime work will occur between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Resurfacing operations are expected to occur primarily overnight between 6 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The project includes guardrail replacement at the Union Carbide, Hahnville, Vial and Hymel Canal bridges. Temporary concrete barriers will be used during the crossdrain replacements. The resurfacing work does not include the bridge decks.
Traffic volumes along the project corridor range from approximately 6,000 to 12,000 vehicles daily, depending on the location.
LA 3127 will remain open throughout construction, but motorists may experience delays during lane closures. Drivers should use caution through the work zone and remain alert for construction crews and equipment.
