The City of Alexandria and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) are conducting a public hearing for the draft Environmental Assessment (EA) prepared for the proposed Sugar House Road Extension Project. The proposed project develops a connector route between LA 1, I-49 and highways US 167 and US 71. A preferred route alternative has been identified for the project, and a draft EA provided for public review.
The purpose of the hearing is to present findings of the draft EA and to obtain input from interested parties. Exhibits highlighting the preferred route alternative identified in the draft EA and additional project information will be available for review. Representatives from the project team will be available at the hearing to answer questions and discuss issues related to the project.
The draft EA is available for download from https://www.dotd.la.gov/about/office-of-project-delivery/planning/environmental/projects-public-notices/ and can be viewed locally at LADOTD District 08 (3300 South MacArthur Drive), the City of Alexandria (625 Murray Street, Suite 5), and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch of the Rapides Parish Library (1115 Broadway Avenue). It can also be viewed at the Louisiana State Library 701 N. 4th St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802 and LADOTD Headquarters, 1201 Capitol Access Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
Verbal comments on the project can be given at the hearing and will be included in the official hearing record. Written comments on the project can also be submitted at the hearing. Comments can also be mailed or emailed to the project team at the address shown below, postmarked by November 30, 2026.
