REMINDER: Crescent City Connection closures begin tonight, Tuesday, November 3.
Lane closures for steel truss repairs begin tonight on the city-bound Crescent City Connection, traveling from the West Bank to the East Bank.

Previous release: October 21, 2026
NEW ORLEANS — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces lane closures beginning November 3 at 8 p.m., after polls close, for a $6.5 million repair project on the city-bound US 90B/Crescent City Connection, GNO No. 2.
Following overnight installation of concrete barriers, the right city-bound lane will remain closed day and night during the mainline repair phase. Three city-bound travel lanes will remain open after barrier installation. This work does not affect the older, Westbank-bound bridge.
Crews will clean and sandblast affected areas of the bridge’s steel framework, use steel plates to reinforce repair locations, and apply protective coatings to help prevent further corrosion. These repairs address deterioration from years of exposure and help extend the bridge’s service life. The bridge remains safe to drive on.
The closed right lane will provide space for equipment and protected access to repair locations outside the roadway. The work is on the bridge’s steel framework rather than the driving surface.
The overall project is expected to take approximately 18 months, weather permitting. This is the duration of the entire project, including separate mainline and HOV repair phases, rather than the duration of one continuous lane closure.
What drivers should expect
Motorists should anticipate backups and delays, particularly during peak travel periods in both the morning and afternoon. Drivers should allow extra travel time, check traffic before leaving and consider alternate routes or travel times when practical. Eligible drivers may also consider carpooling and using the HOV lanes during their scheduled hours of operation.
DOTD recognizes the disruption this work will cause. The repair phases have been coordinated to reduce traffic impacts where possible. Traffic engineers will continue to monitor conditions after work begins and evaluate whether adjustments can help reduce delays while maintaining safety for drivers and crews.
Closure schedule
Overnight barrier installation — November 3–6
The two right city-bound lanes will close overnight for installation of concrete barriers. The two left lanes will remain open.
• Tuesday, November 3: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.
• Wednesday, November 4, and Thursday, November 5: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.
Long-term right-lane closure — Following barrier installation
The right city-bound lane will remain continuously closed during the mainline repair phase. Three city-bound travel lanes will remain open.
The right lane will temporarily reopen beginning January 29, 2027, for Mardi Gras. The closure will be re-established after the holiday. DOTD will provide additional notice about subsequent closure and reopening dates.
HOV inspection weekend — November 6–9
Both HOV lanes will close at 7 p.m. Friday, November 6, for inspection work and are scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. Monday, November 9. The right city-bound mainline lane will remain closed during this weekend.
Outside this inspection weekend, HOV lanes will continue operating under their existing schedule and occupancy requirements during the mainline repair phase.
Later HOV repair phase
A later phase will close one HOV lane while keeping the other open. DOTD will announce the schedule and restrictions before that phase begins.
Emergency reopening
If a hurricane evacuation requires all lanes, the contractor will remove barriers and reopen the closed lanes.
All scheduled work is weather dependent. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously through the work zone and watch for crews and equipment.
