Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 10:22:11 AM
Calcasieu Parish – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced Interstate 10 West at the Calcasieu River Bridge will have closures from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. nightly, beginning Monday, October 19, 2026.

Closures are scheduled Sunday through Thursday nights under the following times and conditions:
  • 7 p.m.-10 p.m. single right lane closed – I-10 West
  • 10 p.m.- 5 a.m. full bridge closure – I-10 West
Detour information:
  • Motorists traveling on I-10 West will be detoured via Lakeshore Drive (Exit 30A), I-10 East to I-210 West and return to I-10 West. All thru motorists will be advised to utilize I-210 West Lake Charles By-Pass (Exit 34) to I-10 West.
Work on the westbound lanes of the bridge are expected to last until late November/early December. Upon completion, crews will shift to the eastbound lanes of the bridge, with work anticipated to take six weeks to complete. Closures will not be in effect during the weeks of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

The closures are necessary for crews to conduct a $1.71 million project to rehabilitate the existing Interstate 10 Calcasieu River Bridge. These repairs will enhance the bridge’s stability throughout the $2.3 billion I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge replacement project. Initial work includes structural repairs to the truss of the bridge.

C.E.C. Inc. is the contractor for the project. This work is expected to be complete by May 2027.

Safety Reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
