NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking additional public input on proposed improvements to US 90 (North Broad Street/Gentilly Boulevard/Chef Menteur Highway) between Lafitte Avenue and France Road in New Orleans.

The project is designed to improve pavement conditions, pedestrian accessibility and traffic operations along the corridor. Planned work includes resurfacing the roadway to extend its service life and provide a smoother driving surface, as well as pedestrian and traffic-management improvements.

Pedestrian improvements include installing pedestrian signals at signalized intersections and ADA-compliant ramps. Traffic improvements include modifying median openings and adding left-turn lanes between St. Bernard Avenue and George Nick Connor Drive. The project also includes minor modifications to raised islands at select locations and adjustments to the median width between the New Orleans Street/Allen Street couplet and Peoples Avenue.

The project is in the design phase, with construction bidding anticipated in 2027. No additional right-of-way, business relocations, or residential relocations are anticipated.

DOTD is accepting public comments through November 6, 2026. Residents, businesses and motorists who use the corridor are encouraged to review the proposed improvements and provide feedback.
