The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, LA 124 will be closed at the Godfrey and Beech Creek Bridges in Winn Parish. The closure is located 8.4 MI from the intersection of LA 124 and US 84 and 4.8 MI from the Winn/LaSalle Parish Line.
The intent of this project is remove and replace the five existing bridges over Big Branch, Sandy Creek, Godfrey Creek and Beech Creek. In addition, the scope of work will include asphalt concrete and base course on the new bridge approaches.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Merrick, LLC, for $10,330,565.30. The work associated with this project should take approximately 805 calendar days to complete.
Permit/Detour section
No traffic will be allowed passage while under construction. The westbound detour route for this project will be via LA 125 east to US 165 then south to US 84 then west to LA 124. The southbound detour will be via US 84 east to US 165 then north to LA 125 then west to LA 124.
There will be subsequent closures upon the completion of the Godfrey and Beech Creek bridges at the other two bridge sites.
