Construction to begin on $1.6 million LA 16 curve realignment project in Livingston Parish

LIVINGSTON PARISH — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 5th, as part of a $1.6 million project to realign LA 16 at Gourdon Lane in Livingston Parish.
The project covers approximately one-third of a mile of highway used by about 6,000 vehicles daily.
Crews will realign the roadway to make the existing curve more gradual. The project uses federal Highway Safety Improvement Program funding, which supports roadway safety improvements.
Any lane closures needed for construction will occur outside the hours of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Crews may perform work alongside the roadway during the day.
Access to Gourdon Lane and nearby properties will be maintained. A temporary stone will be placed as needed if construction obstructs an entrance.
Work is expected to be completed by the end of November.
Motorists should expect intermittent nighttime lane restrictions, use caution in the work zone and watch for workers and equipment.
