Project Update: LA 39 resurfacing project underway in Plaquemines Parish

Plaquemines Parish - Construction is underway on a $700,000 project to repair and resurface LA 39 from the levee to approximately 3/4 mile north of Harlem Lane in Plaquemines Parish.
The project covers approximately 2 miles of highway and is funded through LTIF 2.0, an additional investment provided by the Louisiana Legislature for transportation improvements.
Work includes repairing damaged pavement, removing the existing asphalt surface, and installing new asphalt to provide a new driving surface.
The work connects with the ongoing LA 39 Raising: White Ditch to Phoenix project. Together, the projects cover approximately seven miles of LA 39, providing a new driving surface and raising portions of the road in low-lying areas.
Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone during lane closures. To accommodate school traffic, lane closures will begin after 8 a.m. Construction began August 24 and is expected to be completed by the end of September, weather permitting.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane restrictions, use caution in the work zone, and watch for workers and equipment.
