HOUMA — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that construction began this week on a $700,000 project to repair and resurface LA 3087/Prospect Boulevard from LA 24 to the Intracoastal Bridge in Terrebonne Parish.

The project covers about a quarter-mile of highway that carries approximately 11,000 vehicles daily.

Crews will repair damaged pavement, remove the existing asphalt surface, install new asphalt for a smoother driving surface, and add new striping.

The work also includes resurfacing and restriping at the Bayou Terrebonne Bridge.

Construction is expected to take place during both daytime and nighttime hours. Lane closures will be prohibited Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Roadway resurfacing is planned overnight, while curb and drainage adjustments will take place during the day.

At least one lane in each direction is expected to remain open throughout construction.

Work is expected to be completed later this fall.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane restrictions, use caution in the work zone, and watch for workers and equipment.
