Lafayette Parish - Interstate 49 - Alternating Lane Closures and Ramp Closures

LAFAYETTE/ST. LANDRY PARISH, LA - Motorists are advised of the next round of alternating lane closures as part of the $43 million resurfacing project.

These closures are necessary to complete milling and paving operations and will take place during overnight and weekend hours to minimize traffic disruptions.

Northbound I-49 – Milling and Paving Operations
Alternating lane closures will occur on the I-49 northbound mainline between Pont Des Mouton and the Carencro Exits during the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, August 29: 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Sunday, August 30: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Monday, August 31: 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Southbound I-49 – Milling and Paving Operations
Alternating lane closures will occur on the I-49 southbound mainline between Pont Des Mouton and the Carencro Exits during the following dates and times:

  • Tuesday, September 1: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, September 2: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, September 3: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.

Ramp Closures
Intermittent ramp closures will also be in place during the following dates and times:

I-49 Exits 1 (Pont Des Mouton Road), 2 (Gloria Switch Road – LA 98), & 4 (Carencro – LA 726)

Northbound

  • Saturday, August 29: 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Sunday, August 30 – 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Monday, August 31 – 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Southbound

  • Saturday, August 29: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Sunday, August 30 – 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Monday, August 31 – 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

Motorists should expect delays, exercise caution in work zones, and consider alternate routes when possible. Crews will work to complete operations as efficiently and safely as possible.

For the safety of workers and drivers, please reduce speed and remain alert when traveling through construction areas.
