DOTD announces $6.86 million project to improve US 165 between LA 101 and First Ave. in Kinder to begin Aug 31, 2026

Jefferson Davis and Allen Parish – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced work on a $6.86 million project to improve US 165 Northbound and Southbound between LA 101 and First Avenue in Kinder is set to begin Monday, August 31, 2026. Improvements include patching, milling and overlay work.
Alternating lane closures on US 165 NB and SB between LA 101 and First Ave. will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning August 31, 2026, through Sunday, January 31, 2027. Flaggers will be on site to manage traffic flow.
R.E. Heidt Construction Co. LLC is the contractor for the project. This project is expected to be complete by February 2027, weather permitting.
