UPDATE – EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE: US 84 over Bourbeaux Bayou, Natchitoches Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces a status update on the current emergency closure of US 84 over Bourbeaux Bayou just east of the Village of Clarence in Natchitoches Parish.
Due to the condition and size of the box culvert, the roadway will need to remain closed until further notice for the safety of the traveling public, which is always a top priority.
DOTD is currently working diligently to develop a contract and obtain necessary emergency funding to allow a contractor to replace the existing box culvert with a new structure and reopen the roadway. While the Department is working to expedite the process as much as possible, motorists are advised to prepare for an ongoing road closure and detour.
Once a more definitive timeline is available, that will be provided to the community.

Detour section reminder:
Eastbound motorists:
Motorists traveling eastbound on US 84 will detour by turning south on US 71 at the intersection of US 71/US 84L/LA 6. Traffic will continue south on US 71 for approximately 6.1 miles to the intersection with LA 477. Motorists will then turn left on LA 477 and continue north for approximately 7.2 miles to reconnect with US 84.
Westbound motorists:
Motorists traveling westbound on US 84 will detour by turning south on LA 477. Traffic will then continue south on LA 477 for approximately 7.2 miles to the intersection with US 71. Motorists will then turn right onto US 71 northbound and continue for approximately 6.1 miles to the intersection of US 71/US 84/LA 6, where motorists may resume travel on US 84.
